Looking at buying a Kubota B6200 with Kubota Loader 3 point hitch and 4wd. Tractor has not run in at least 1 year. Oh by the way it is gear driven. 6sp 2 reverse and 2 pto. 15 hp diesel.

Question is how much is this tractor worth? Hours are 557 (and yes I know it may be 1557 or 2557 hrs.)

A few questions...
1) does it turn over?
2) Being a gear unit, what kind of play is in the clutch pedal?
3) Check the top link bracket for bends. If it shows signs of bent walls, check the tranny castings for stress cracks/fractures.
4) Tires - Turf, or AG, and how much tread left on them?
5) What is the serial number? It can be found on the left side of the tranny tube by your inside left foot. It will start "B6200DT......"
With this, we can tell you what age it is as well.
6) Check the rear hubs and axle conditions. Depending on the age, some had the older style hub still installed. This hub consisted of a single jamm bolt that torqued against a steel shim onto the axle. The problem, was that it had a tendency to loosen up regularly. If it was not attended to, it would wear the hex shaft and soon the hub would not tighten on/against the axle, and the wheel would run "loose" and wobble. To compliacte the matter, I have seen some real brainchild fixes, where they have gone and welded the hub to the axle, to alleviate the wobble. Great, now when you want to service the unit, such as the brakes, you cannot take the hub off the axle to get to them! SMART puppies out there.

The newer hubs that were used, consisted of a pull pin in a steel dowel for location, and a three sided shim that torqued externally rather than downward against the shaft. This proved to be significantly longer lasting, and a version of it is still being used today.

7) What is the overall condition? I had looked at an older B unit awhile ago, and was tole that it ran fine. It was a gear unit as well. When I tried staring it, the clutch was almost non-existent, and rain water had gotten into the stack pipe. Then she was spewing globs of sloppy soot out. You know where rain water collects when it gets into the exhaust chamber...

Just a few points to check out. These are some simple very evident areas to check out. It may be fine, but then again, as Art mentioned, there could very well be a reason why she sat that long.

The gentleman that owns it has been sick and can no longer use the tractor. It has been stored inside since day 1. ....

Can't really say about the clutch play or any stress fractures in the bell housing. I do know the tires ar AG and that the front ones are half worn. It was used primarily on pavement to clear snow etc. Don't know if she turns over. Battery was out of it. As for water in the stack I doubt it, it was stored inside from day 1.

It hasn't ran because the owner has been sick for a few years and cannot use it anymore.

Ah, thanks for the insight. I did not mean to mislead you about the potential crack areas. Not so much the bell housing, but rather on the tranny case itself.

Chances are, the unit may just need a good maintenance done to it and be fine, that is filters, fresh fuel, etc.
The loader itself, providing it does not show signs of abuse, rewelds, etc, makes the unit valued that much more to begin with.

Not seeing it mind you, and assuming that it does in fact run well, I would place a figure somewhere between $2500, and $4500, and , if any implements beyond the loader go with it, it would be valued that much more again.

See if you can bring a battery and fresh fuel over and fire it up and check it out. (bear in mind, preheat is turning and holding the key to the left until the glow ring is bright orange / red, then turn ignition switch to the right for starting)
